Terms of service are for five (5) years.

The Town of Hornellsville Board of Assessment Review (BAR) is established pursuant to Real Property Tax Law § 523. The BAR consists of five (5) residents of the community appointed by the Town Board. The BAR’s sole purpose is to arrive at a fair and impartial decision regarding the assessment on property. Their hearings evaluate assessment reviews (grievance applications) and are open to the public under the State’s Open Meeting Law.

The members of the BAR annually choose one of their members to serve as Chairman of such board.
